Pullerits: Millise Jaak Mae arvamuse ma ära peitsin?
Tunnistan ausalt, et tegin eelmisel nädalal nii teile kui Postimehe lugejatele väikse tünga. Väikse, aga sõbraliku. Nimelt ei avaldanud ma mitte kõike, mida Jaak Mae mulle rääkis. Kas peaks seda nüüd tegema?Kui jah, siis vaid ühel tingimusel. Nimelt arvestage ja pidage meeles, et järgnevas avaldab Mae vaid oma subjektiivset arvamust, mis ei pruugi olla äärest ääreni ülikõvade faktidega toestatud. Nii et seda ei maksa absoluutse tõena võtta. Aga kuna teema oli läbi terve lõppenud suusahooaja aktuaalne, siis lahenduste leidmise nimel oleks mõistlik see küsimus siin siiski laiema asjast huvitatud üldsuse ette tuua.
Jaak, kas oled kõrvalt aru saanud, miks Eesti sprindimehed ei ole suutnud aastaid loodetud tulemusi saavutada?
Eks ma oma arvamusi jagan eeskätt nendega. Sõitsin [14. aprillil] koos [Eesti sprinterite treeneri] Björn Kristianseniga Otepääle ja rääkisin temaga, mis on minu arvamus.
Üks asi, milllele Björn rõhub, on tiimitunne ja tiimi koostöö ja meeste üksteise toetamine. See
pool on neil väga tugev. Nad teevad koos trenni, ühiselt seavad eesmärke, on hästi kõvasti motiveeritud. Selle koha pealt on väga okei. Meie [distantsisõitjad] oleme rohkem üksikud hundid, igaüks omaette ja ainult iseenda eest.Mingil määral on tiimitunne kindlasti hea ja oluline. Aga... seal võib olla see, et kuna on tiim, siis teinekord võib juhtuda, et trenn tehakse ka tiimina ja läheb omavahel äkki konkureerimiseks.
Nad treenivad suhteliselt palju [distantsisõitjatest] eraldi, seetõttu ei tahaks treeningu koha pealt sõna võtta. Björni ideoloogia on tiimitunde tekitamine ja seada kõrgeid eesmärke ja innustada läbi selle mehi.
Pärast Suusavendade korraldatud sprindivõistlust Tartus Tähtvere spordipargis rääkisin Anti Saarepuuga ja avaldasin arvamust Eesti sprinterite kesiste tulemuste kohta, põhjendades, et vanasti oli sprint lühem, aga nüüd on distantsid pikemad ja sportlaste võimsus mängib
suuremat rolli, ning pärisin, et äkki jääb meie meestel baasettevalmistus nõrgaks, mida näitab kas või see, et ei suudeta teatesõidus isegi 10 km konkurentsivõimeliselt läbida. On siin iva?Sprint on omamoodi huvitav ala, seda ei kannata millegagi võrrelda. Kergejõustikus oleks see keskmaa, pigem 1500 kui 800 meetrit. Aga seda distantsi tuleb läbida neli korda ühe päeva jooksul. Esimene sõit on ära, siis tund pausi. Aga sõita kolm korda neli minutit suhteliselt väikse pausiga on hoopis teine asi, seal läheb baasvastupidavust oluliselt rohkem vaja.
Sprint on selles mõttes keeruline, et üldse edasi pääseda, pead esimese sõidu piisavalt kiirelt sõitma. Seal on plahvatuslikkust, võimsust ja jõudu ja kiiret lihast vaja.
Sprint on veel noor ala, suhteliselt keeruline on leida lahendusi. Björn on töötanud aastaid koos norrakate peatreeneriga ja on nende treeninguid kõrvalt näinud. Kui ta Norra treeningmetoodika siia üle tõi, siis siiamaani ei ole meie poisid suutnud seda ideaalset kokku ajada. Kindlasti ei ole neil motivatsioonist ja tahtmisest puudus, aga kulub aastaid, et seda kõike meie meestele sobitada. See on jube keeruline kokku panna.
Kindlasti, nagu Björn ise ütleb, on igal pool reservi. Mahu ja jõu poole pealt, kuigi jõudu neile meeldib teha ja nad teevad üsna hoolega.
Aga teiste meeste treeningut ei tahaks üksipulgi kritiseerima hakata, kuna ma seal sees ei ole olnud.

Jaak Mae vastus: Aga teiste meeste treeningut ei tahaks üksipulgi kritiseerima hakata, kuna ma seal sees ei ole olnud.
